I have nonstick pans and stainless pans, but I just end up using this skillet because it's so awesome, nonstick, and I can use metal stuff on it! I haven't used the other part, just the skillet, but I'm sure it's awesome too.

I also purchased a small glove for the handle, since it can help get a better grip. However, it's not really required, because it's cast iron: rugged material.

Great value, performance and soul! It's a nice warm feeling to return to the good old-fashioned cast-iron frying pan of my mom's home-cooking... only I don't remember it being quite this heavy! Nevermind- the culinary outcome is unparalleled for fried eggs, pancakes, Chinese pot-stickers, etc. The cookware stays hot for a long time and keeps the cooked food warm. With the pre-seasoning maintenance is not that difficult: a wet scrub (no soap) and wipe, keep dry but lightly coated with oil. Best if you can just keep one out on the cooktop all the time to minimize bench-pressing back-and-forth to storage. No need to worry about the possible toxicity of non-stick coatings or aluminum- in fact, any residual iron in your food is supposed to be good for you; and aside from rusting from negligent soaking, it's almost impossible to damage the surface. Haven't tried the combo cooker configuration, assume it would be good for heat-retention but given the weight issue a little dubious about the practicality of using the shallow pan as a lid. The two handles are convenient for maneuverability and don't get overly hot that quickly, although probably a good idea to routinely use handle-covers or pot-holder.
I'm using this combo cooker primarily for baking bread. So far it has turned out superb results. I am happy to have cookware that can be used for multiple purposes. The quality of Lodge products are great and this combo cooker lives up to their reputation. I have not used this set for anything but bread yet, but I look forward to using the skillet in more of my cooking.
